HOW ARE YOU DOING WITH DANCING? TAKE A TEST IN PUERTO PLATA
Bachata is a dance from Dominican folklore, a fusion of merengue and bolero; in 2019 it was declared a UNESCO Intangible World Heritage Site.
And here comes a dedicated World Festival! In Puerto Plata, from November 17 to 20.
This is the first time this event has been held in the Dominican Republic; Puerto Plata, the bustling location on the island’s northern coast served by an international airport, has been chosen as the setting.
The highlight will be the evening of November 19, when Anthony Santos – with whom star Romeo Santos has also collaborated – will arrive in Puerto Plata’s amphitheater.
The first musician in the world to record Bachata tracks was José Manuel Calderon. Living between Dominicana and New York, he created a unique style, both vocally and musically.
Stay with us during the festival; we reopen Viva Wyndham V Heavens on Nov. 15 after expansion work.
It is located in the vicinity of Puerto Plata, in Playa Dorada, adjacent to the 18-hole par 72 golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones. Most accommodations are very spacious junior suites.
The all-inclusive formula includes five restaurants, bars, disco, sports and entertainment, beach umbrellas, sunbeds, beach and pool towels.
